Some non-car talk!
I have pierced ears. I rarely wear earrings, though, so not only do most people not know I have pierced ears, I also risk the holes closing up on me. Every so often, I go stick an earring in to see how my ears are doing. This past Sunday was one of those days.

Ouch. I had to push pretty hard and caused some pain putting the earring in my left ear, this time. That seemed like a pretty clear message that it had been too long this time and the skin was growing back. Since I still want to have pierced ears, I wore earrings every day this week so that injury I made would heal with the hole in my ear. Monday, Tuesday, and Wednesday were all pretty much the same. I needed to use a mirror to get the earring into that left ear and the lobe ended up numb after the process. If I played with the ear at all, it would go numb again. But come Thursday, I was back to not needing a mirror to put the earrings on, and the numbness didn't return. My ears feel completely back to normal, now. I can play with the earrings without anything feeling strange.

And I'm enjoying wearing the earrings. I'm mostly wearing lightweight dangly ones, so when I twist my head around, I feel them hit my neck or my ear. I've even felt them move during a hard corner in the car (Oh, I did it, I slipped in a car reference). Maybe I'll actually keep up the earring-wearing for a while this time.

One of my holes closes up, the other ear doesn't. The one that closes up is the one that the earring ball went into the hole shortly after I had my ears pierced.

Eeep. I didn't have anything like that happen, though I did nearly pass out when they pierced me... :)

I only screamed a lot when they did mine. But a few weeks later my Uncle was over for easter, I was on his lap, he tickled me, and my head bumped into his, and somehow the earring got bumped into the hole, got it HURT, and then my mom put rubbing alcohol onit to clean it out.

I dared not cry, or scream, or complain about the pain. I'd been asking to have my ears pierced for some time, and my dad wouldn't agree. Finally, he did, this one day, so there was no way I was going to complain about the process. But I just couldn't control the turning-white-and-feeling-funny. Some ice cream fixed that, though. ;)

Dangly earrings feel good, like having long hair to swing.

Oh, I bet that's why I'm enjoying them so much. My hair's getting close to a yard long now, but most of the day I'm keeping it in a bun on the back of my head. It's just been tangling too much if I don't. I imagine the earrings are giving me that "long hair to toss" feel that I'm missing! :D

Some "quibbles" are good

HiYa - Wanted to leave you a note and swoooshed through your past posts. Now let's see if I can make this relevant.

Ummmmm ... oh, I know!
I might well get a peircing someday. Heck, I might well get a tatoo. Someday. But they'd have to be special.

My big deal was for years having dreadlocks. And not the salon type, braided ... I mean the gnarly sort. (And no, dreads don't smell bad! That's such an aweful rumour. A body would have to be living unhealthy for hair to stink!)

But your blog intrigues me. Motor racing hunh? At stock cars one time, talking to the guy beside me after a good smashup, I said something like, "Amazes me that teams can find money to put into those cars" and he replies, "Amazes me they can find folk to drive!".
Well ... I've been driving pret'near my whole life ... home town is in the country, started motorcycle at 14, navigated for rally at 16 ... we talked for a while. Almost put something together. But *shrug* you know how much time it takes. So I let it slide.

But why I came to your posts, a quibble: I read "flying horse" in your profile.
But yuh know ... equicorvid would be quite a different creature, though "flying horse" would still be true.
Raptors ... wow ... I worked on crows and ravens ("ethology" ... kinda like anthropology on critters) and they are something. But raptors?! Wooof ... the Formula1 of the bird kingdom!

:-)
