My car is back in the shop, again. But this time, it looks like it's… - Equiraptor's Journal
My car is back in the shop, again. But this time, it looks like it's probably good news.

I was able to gather a few more symptoms about the transmission problem and it no longer looks like it's the synchros! The car has a hydraulic clutch, and it's sounding like a problem with the hydraulics. Dan is suspicious of the master cylinder they installed some time ago.

And John and Dan make it so easy to get my car fixed. I told them about the newly discovered symptoms at lunch. They said they could give me a ride back to work and replace the master cylinder this afternoon. So fast, so easy, so little stress for me. So, hopefully this will mean the end of my car's odd shifting symptoms.

Edit: I just got home. I pulled into the garage, stopped, slipped the gearshift into reverse, and then turned off the engine. I haven't been able to do that in months. I suspect the funky behavior is fixed. :D

Isn't that the best feeling, when some mysterious mechanical problem is finally solved AND fixed? :)

It really is. My main annoyance right now is with my parking light not coming on unless I tap my hand on it. I'm guessing there's a short somewhere or the bulb is going. Fairly certain the whole light assembly is sealed though, meaning it's a pain to fix unless you know exactly how to do it. For some people that involves baking it until the sealant looses adhesiveness. hmmm
