Yay Baseball
Texas Longhorn Baseball, NCAA College World Series Campions AGAIN! Yay! Now my parents will come home to their dead plants and over oiled car happy!

Okay, I don't *think* I killed their plants - at least, not most of them. And I didn't over-oil their car, I just added a lot. When it burns a quart of oil for every tank of gas, you add a lot of oil.

What kind of car do they drive?! And how on earth could it be losing so much oil?

This is a 1988 Toyota Camry with 278,000 miles on it. It has an oil leak somewhere, and most of the oil seems to be going into parts of the engine it shouldn't. The exhaust is blue when the car is first started. This is a common thing for high-mileage Camrys - they'll go hundreds of thousands of miles like this, though I'm sure it's not good for them. It can also get expensive...

Best solution junk it!

My Ford Taurus couldn't even make 100k. My 89 Chevy Celebrity did just barely over 100k. Close to 300k out of a car is nice.

It's a Camry. Close to 300,000 out of it is normal. The Mercury Sable barely made 114k, and that's on three different transmissions. I don't know the mileage on the Ford Tempo, but, well, it wasn't very high, and that thing threw a rod. The Mercury Topaz was the best of the few... Until it rearended the Sable and had the radiator snapped in half. The Camrys just keep going, while the Fords just keep dying (I'll admit, not always the Ford's fault, but still... Three transmissions in 114,000 miles?)

I'm trying to convince my mother she wants a Miata for sunny days. They always keep a third car, anyway...

Oh cool, you made an icon out of it.

It's 17 years old. That it starts reliably is in and of itself impressive.

The 21-year-old one starts reliably as well. ;) The one in the icon is actually the '87 Camry, the only automatic of the three.

Yes, my parents own three Camrys, the newest an '88, and the lowest mileage around 110,000. Yes, my parents are insane.
