Why is it that I can modify my journal right now, yet all the journals I want to comment in are in read-only mode? And what's up with this whole read-only mode stuff anyway? And... and... Hrm... what else can I rant about... I want more weather like yesterday! It was beautiful out. nugget and I drove around in his car with the top down... I'm tired of the rain and my rear tires slipping, though I suppose new tires could help with that second one too... I need to save up the money for new shocks and tires... vroom.

While I haven't experienced the read-only mode issue, I have experienced incredible sluggishness while trying to load and comment on people's entries.

I'm glad that you're enjoying your car. You seem to be much happier overall. I can't help thinking about how much you'd hate driving that car up here. Especially when we get strong winds, snow and anything else to come from nature that will make your driving experience miserable.

Best of luck with your new beauty. :)

Actually miatas do quite well in the snow. The same 50:50 weight ratio and light weight that make them perform well in the dry makes them predictable and manageable in snow and ice.

About the only problem I had when driving mine in Indiana was occasional clearance issues when snow hadn't been plowed recently. It was certainly no worse than my Celica or my NX2000.

Everyone should own a miata! :)

My cutlass is kinda crappy in the snow. Combination of it needing a wider wheelbase, better tires and weight distribution no doubt.

Hooray for sunny day driving. Austin rules.

It's not my fault you slept through the whole day yesterday.

The journals are kept on a number of seperate DB clusters. IIRC the chef cluster was fucking up on that day, and seemingly most of the austin crowd is on that one.

Re:

Yeah. I know. After venting my frustration I went out and looked at the lj maintenance stuff, and discovered the problem. That was a day they had some cluster fail. I just found it annoying that only the journals I wanted to write in had failed. Ever other journal on my friends list (that I checked) was fine.
