Well, the world doesn't like me, but it doesn't hate me.

My parents let me drive to Dallas. I figured there would be traffic, and Dad doesn't deal with it well, and Mother wouldn't drive anyway, so best for me to be behind the wheel. Dad knows I love to drive, so he was happy to let me. We stopped at the El Chico in Waco on the way. Very good food, and the chocolate chimichanga Mom and I had for dessert was wonderful.

We finally made it to Dallas after dealing with too much stop and go traffic. Took the "North Dallas Tollway" up to where it dies. One of the toll booths stole a quarter from us. We're here now...

So, I go to plug the laptop into my Aunt's cable modem. It turns out I didn't do adequate testing of my new FreeBSD 5.1 install, and it won't work with the NIC (page fault error). So I tried the Aunt's desktop. Windows 98 on a 366MHz Celeron with 32M ram. Weee. The connection wasn't working. Plugged in the cable I brought, and it's all good (yay). I hate Windows 98. I hate IE. She might have firebird before the weekend is over, whether she wants it or not. She's also likely to have a somewhat cleaned up install. :)

Well, I'm glad to be online while away. It's helpful, especially with everyone else already asleep. I suspect they're all going to get mad at me for spending too much time on the computer.

O, and I'm wearing Star Trek earrings.

Current Mood: relieved relieved
Current Music: a mouse running in it's wheel

My parents are getting DSL in time for my visit over Christmas. I'm thrilled. :)
