And once upon a time, I was a horse person. I like to pretend I still am, but I haven't ridden in nearly five years, and I haven't spent more than a few minutes around them in a solid four. But, I get this horse magazine, Horse Illustrated. I have since I was fairly young (10, maybe younger). In one of these many, many issues, when I was still basically a little girl, I read about Mane and Tail shampoo and conditioner, and how wonderful it was for horses. And not only that, but that it turned out it was great for human hair, as well! The author of the column thought, how great, she can get a huge tub of stuff at the tack shop for $5! Wonderful! So, she went to the tack shop and the tub... was $20. And, alas, ever since that day, I have been curious as to how Mane and Tail shampoo and conditioner would work for my hair.

Well, I finally get to find out. I happened to stumble upon it in the HEB. When we came home, I read the directions... "Human directions" and "Horse directions." I am a horse-dork. I'll see how my hair actually likes the stuff. It may replace my Herbal Essence.

In stumbling around channels on the TV, I discovered something I'd seen before - the RFD (or something like that), the Rural channel. It ends up having a lot of horse-related content. Currently, it's showing footage of an intermediate level dressage competition - the freestyle segment. This is very much like the freestyle in ice skating, in that each competitor chooses his or her music and routine, including a set of required moves.

I can tell this is an intermediate level as I watch. Most of the pairs simply don't look as clean as in higher levels of competition. However, many of these horses have beautiful extended trots. Poor Nugget has been getting to hear me critique and praise various riders. I'm not even sure he's listening.

Aaaah, horses.
