a Miata
There's a Miata at the same dealership that has the red classic Mini. The Miata's red as well. It's a '91 with 74,000 miles. Marked at $4,995. I want it. But I don't. It has the smaller engine. It has the pop up headlights I don't like. It's red (any color but red... well, or gold, ick). I don't want this Miata. But I want a Miata, it's there, and I can afford it. I want to try to talk them down to $3000, or something. But I shouldn't. I know I shouldn't. But I want a Miata, and it's sitting right there on the lot, waiting for me... *sigh*

I like red nails, red lipstick, red panties.

Red cars just aren't my thing, I can't explain why.

The same reason some people prefer coke to pepsi I guess.

red looks alright on a miata. what year did the pop-up lights go away? 99?

Yeah. They had pop up lights through 97, didn't make them in 98, and had the new body style in 99. My father has trained me not to buy the first year after a change, so that means if I'm avoiding pop up lights, I'm looking for a 2000.

Yeah, a range of '99 miatas are plauged with some crankshaft problem where the engines sometimes just spontaneously dissolve.

my 99's cat just disintigrated. other than that, it was awesome.

red is my absolute favorite color on cars. nothing says "my dick is small" like a red car that looks fast :D

The Miata

If I could, I want to warn you about something with the Miata... replacement parts for Mazda cars are absolutely astronomical, and not in that good, "starry-night, check out the Milky Way through your convertible roof" kind of way. No, I'm talking the, "Oh holy crap...$70 for an ash tray?" kind of way. I know the pain of that sort of thing, driving a Toyota MR2...but it's even worse with the Miata. Gotta say, though...girls look pretty good in a Miata ;)

Re: The Miata

I had a friend who had an MR2 Spyder... see his story. And, yes, parts for Japanese cars can be expensive, but you need so many fewer parts than you do with an American POS. nugget drove a Miata for many years, and had no major repairs on the thing. I also have a friend who currently drives a 99 Miata, and three coworkers who drive Miatas. I have plenty of friends to help.
