Want a copy of the Drift Bible so you can study up for when you get it back? ;)

I think I want a completely new suspension and steering rack for the Camry... 278,000 miles has not been kind to the car.

Maybe you're just forgetting how frightening it was when new?

The one with just over 100,000 miles (same generation) is not *quite* as bad, though both are soft, mushy, and imprecise compared to the Miata (as if I expected any different). My parents own three Camrys: An '87 automatic with 100,000 miles (in the icon), an '88 manual with 278,000 miles (the one I'm driving), and an '84 manual with around 190,000 miles. The '84 is the car that taught me to drive.

you might want to see about just replacing some of the front end bushings. Those are undoubtedly gone by now.

It's had work done, I'm just not sure how much. Most of what's been done to it has been communicated through my dad (it's his car) and he's not fond of giving very precise descriptions. I think one of the mechanics told them that the steering rack was just completely worn out, and to get it back to its former handling, it would need a new steering rack. I don't *think* they've replaced it.

But, whatever the case, it's my parents problem. As long as the car doesn't become dangerous, I'm not really worried about it. I'll just complain every time the Miata's in the shop.

At least the Camry's a manual... ;P

I'll put my automatic up against that manual any time you want. :P

As far as my joy of driving, this manual will win, anyday, underpowered and soft though it may be.
