I've been driving around the past few days with the top down. It's been a little cool. One of the guys in class last night kept telling me I would freeze if I tried to drive home with the top down. Well, I'm carrying around an extra sweatshirt that's huge and warm, a scarf, a hat, and gloves. The sweatshirt fits over my coat. Combine that with the heater in the Miata, and I don't get very cold at all. My face gets a little cool, but I don't notice much. The hat keeps wind off my ears, the scarf takes care of my neck, and the gloves keep my hands from freezing. It's really not that bad.

This morning, on my way to work, I saw steam rising off the creek as I drove down Spicewood Springs. It was beautiful.

Current Mood: blah blah

In other news

equiraptor also is writing to Congrees, asking to have opening windows in airline jets. When asked about her motivations, she said, quote:

"Sure, it gets a little nippy at -100 degrees, and there's little airpressure, so you cannot breathe for the whole 3 hours of the flight, but it's really not that bad."

Eh, you can use a face mask to breathe.

I used to have a '77 firebird with a t-top. I'd take the top off in 50 degree weather and then turn the heater on full! vrooom!

It was forty-something on my top-down drive from school today. :)

Are you bragging?

(/me pulls the neck of his tshirt over his head)

Please don't brag about your weather stamina as you drive a comfy little sports car to and from work. I ride upwind both ways to and from work each and every day in the bitter freezing wind, and I LOVE it.

Re:

In random news, I had to dig out my car from over a foot of snow yesterday.

Re:

There's people out there who have to deal with more cold than me. There's people out there who have better jobs than me. There's people out there who have better cars than me. There's people out there who have more extreme whatever than me. I can't have the best of everything. Why shouldn't I be happy with what I have? And, yes, part of being happy with something is wanting to share it. I'm sorry I want to share my experiences of my car with my friends. If you don't want me to be happy with my car, don't read the entries. But don't take the wind out of my sails.

For the record, my previous comment was made completely and utterly tongue-in-cheek, ala "when I was your age I had to walk to school uphill both ways in seventeen feet of show, eight days a week".

:-)

O. I think my sarcasm / tongue-in-cheek detector doesn't work before 10:00am... which is when I read your comment and thought about what it said. *sigh* Sometimes, I should just be shot. Or at least kept far, far away from a computer. I apologize.
